The Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine (ABM) would like to invite you to attend the second European Conference on Breastfeeding Medicine on October 4, 2008 in conjunction with the first joint conference of the European Lactation Consultants Association (VELB and the International Lactation Consultants’ Association - ILCA) on October 1 – 3, 2008 in Vienna, Austria.
The Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine (ABM) is a worldwide organization of physicians dedicated to the promotion, protection and support of breastfeeding and human lactation through education, research and advocacy. An independent, self-sustaining, international physician organization and the only organization of its kind, ABM’s mission is to unite members of various medical specialties through physician education, expansion of knowledge in breastfeeding science and human lactation, facilitation of optimal breastfeeding practices and encouragement of the exchange of information among organizations. ABM holds annual international meetings allowing physicians from all over the world to network and hear the latest basic research, public health and clinical information about breastfeeding and human lactation. (www.bfmed.org).
This meeting will include speakers from different European countries and the United States, and will concentrate on the discussion of breastfeeding problems of both mother and child. The presentations will discuss the standards as well as the problems in breastfeeding medicine. The workshop will concentrate on the basics of breastfeeding medicine.
The meeting will take place in the Arcotel Kaiserwasser in Vienna, near the Austria Center, where the ILCA/VELB conference will take place. Located in the centre of Europe it is easy to reach from different European countries, by car, by train or by flight. Here we look forward to the opportunity of discussing breastfeeding problems with physicians from different countries, and to the possibility of networking with colleagues from Europe.
